Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King

Inspirations of Martin Luther King.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born at noon January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. Racism was a great problem while he was growing up. He battled against this injustice. He was a great man who now has a national holiday in the United States of America in honour of his great achievements. Martin Luther King is not his real name. His real name was Michael King.

In august 28, 1963, in Washington D.C., Martin Luthar King, Jr. gave his infamous “I Have a dream” speech to two hundred and fifty thousand people. His dream was that all men were equal regardless of race or color. His 16 minute speech was widely considered the greatest speech of the 20th century. It helped define the civil rights movement, not only in the United States, but around the whole world.

He was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1969 while leading a union rally. He was buried in Freedom Plaza which is now a national historical site.

Even though his life was short, he had a dramatic effect on all of our lives. During his life time prejudice between races was normally accepted behavior. Now it is frowned upon by the majority of the developed world.
